Ursula Mommens was the great, great, great granddaughter of Josiah Wedgwood and great, great granddaughter of Charles Darwin. She learned her craft under William Staite-Murray back in the 1920s and later apprenticed to Michael Cardew before setting up her own pottery in East Sussex.
