American potter Jeff Oestreich first came to St. Ives in 1969 when he spent two years working as an apprentice at the Leach Pottery.
On returning to his native Minnesota Jeff established his own pottery and has since become a world reknowned potter. In Minnesota his work is usually soda glazed
and functional based on the eastern aesthetic he learned from Bernard Leach with other influences such German salt glaze and his interest in Art Deco archietecture.
